At one of the court hearings Bazhutova's partner Alexander Demchuk said that he had testified under torture: according to him, the interrogation lasted about nine hours, it was conducted by six to eight people, during a part of the interrogation he was lying on the floor and did not know where he was, he was threatened with initiation of criminal proceedings and physical violence. The interrogation protocol had been rewritten six times. In the end, Demchuk was forced to state that he supported the war and condemned Bazhutova's actions.
