A resident of St. Petersburg, he worked as a worker at Ozon. He was prosecuted for calls to extremism and terrorism because of two comments he made in the Russian Volunteer Corps telegram chat: a negative statement about Russians and a call to set fire to military recruitment centers. The materials of the criminal case say that Kanin entered the chat through a link-invitation in October 2022, and in March 2023 he voluntarily deleted his messages and left it. The man explained this by the fact that the ideology of RVC does not appeal to him. Kanin used to be on his own recognisance. On October 22, 2024, he was sentenced to four years in a prison.
