Penza-born anti-fascist Dmitrii Pchelintsev was detained in the morning of 27 October 2017. Immediately after the detention, the FSB officers searched his flat, during which they seized the family's personal phones and other electronic media, as well as registered weapons - two hunting carbines and two traumatic pistols. Then they went to the car with the alarm system not working. According to Pchelintsev's wife Angelina, the FSB officers searched the car and found two grenades under the back seat when no one saw them. Pchelintsev claimed that they had been planted on him.

Pchelintsev was arrested. After several days in the pre-trial detention centre, he stated that he was going to plead guilty. Later, Pchelintsev said that FSB officers tortured him every day - they hung him upside down and electrocuted him to different parts of his body. In February, he was forced to recant his words about the torture. In May, Pchelintsev stated that he was innocent and told about the new torture. In September it became known that Pchelintsev was officially charged with organising a terrorist community. Pchelintsev reported that the investigator offered him to plead guilty in exchange for a milder charge - participation in the activities of a terrorist community. Pchelintsev refused.

In March 2019, for unknown reasons, Pchelintsev was transferred to the premises functioning as a remand centre at Penza Region Penal Colony No. 4.

On 17 December, the prosecutor's office asked to drop the charge of preparing to set fire to the military recruitment centre. The court reflected this in the verdict.

On 10 February 2020, Pchelintsev was sentenced to 18 years in a strict regime penal colony.
