Nadezhda Rossinskaya
Belgorod
30 yr old (born in 08.04.1995)
A resident of the Belgorod region, she helped refugees from Ukraine. She organised the volunteer movement "Army of Beauties" to collect humanitarian aid and evacuate refugees. In May 2023, she left Russia—according to her own account, due to threats and the prospect of arrest. She claimed that shortly before her departure, a young woman who had sent her a donation was detained at the airport.
On 1 February 2024, Rossinskaya was detained at the airport while returning to Russia from Georgia. A case was opened against her for calls to undertake activities aimed against the security of the Russian Federation, related to certain posts soliciting donations for the Azov battalion. Rossinskaya maintains that she does not know who owns the Instagram account that published the donation request.
During the hearing on the choice of preventive measure, the activist said that she had received threats after her personal data was added to the Ukrainian database "Myrotvorets" (Peacemaker). She asserted that she was persecuted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) "to discredit Russian volunteers providing support and assistance to the army during the special military operation."
As part of the evidence against Rossinskaya, the investigation cites a video in which soldiers thank her for her assistance. The activist claims these are Russian military personnel.
On 2 February 2024, Rossinskaya was taken into custody. Subsequently, an unknown person delivered 30 litres of water to her in the pre-trial detention centre, causing her monthly parcel allowance to be exhausted, and preventing her parents from sending her necessary items, including food and hygiene products.
Rossinskaya also reported that after her arrest on 1 February, while in the detention centre, she fell ill and suffered a panic attack. The extractor fan in her cell was not working, making it difficult to breathe. She complained of heart pain, a heaviness in the solar plexus, and a "painful heat in the back of her head."
In July 2024, it became known that Rossinskaya was additionally charged with organising terrorist activities. Earlier, her stepfather, Sergei Yusupov, told SOTAvision that a law enforcement officer demanded she be persuaded "to confess to all sins: that she is an almost American spy, that she travelled to Germany, was recruited there, and intends to come to Ukraine." Otherwise, her relatives were threatened with "the crunching of bones — and not only Nadia’s."
On 20 June 2025, the court sentenced her to 22 years in prison, a fine of 320,000 rubles, one and a half years of restricted freedom, and a ban on administering websites. The prosecutor had requested a 27-year sentence.
