А monk of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA), lived in the Belgorod region. After the outbreak of war, he wrote aggressive posts, including support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In October 2022, he was detained and taken into custody. The reason was reportedly aggressive statements calling for violence against representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies. In particular, he stated that those dissatisfied with the authorities should not go out to peaceful rallies, but "make shivs and take Molotov cocktails" to kill "Putin and all that entire Jewish gang". On 12 July 2023, Ilarion was sentenced to five years in a general regime penal colony.
