On 23 September 2019, was detained in Toliatti as part of a criminal case on the activities of a terrorist organisation. Taken to Kazan, where the court placed him in custody.
On 22 April 2021, sentenced to 23 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
In December 2023, it became known that a new case was brought against Mavliutov - on facilitation of terrorist activities. On 24 May 2024, he was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in connection with this case.
