Crimean Solidarity activist. He was detained on 27 March, 2019, after a search and placed in custody the same day, accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organisation. Initially held in a pre-trial detention centre in Russia’s Rostov region, he was later transferred back to Crimea. In March 2020, it emerged that Gaziev was also being accused of plotting to overthrow the constitutional order.

In June 2021, it became known that Gaziev had suffered a minor stroke, but authorities allegedly refused to hospitalise him. He was eventually admitted to hospital in the autumn of 2021, but according to his lawyer, he was beaten shortly before his discharge.

On 11 January, 2023, he was sentenced to 13 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
