In early June 2017, detained and arrested on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation due to alleged involvement in the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is not known to be involed in terrorist activity. On 27 March, 2019, he was sentenced to 12 years in a high security prison.
