Svetlana Marina

Marina is a resident of Kirov and an activist. On November 8, 2023, her home was searched in connection with a case of repeated discrediting of the use of the Russian Armed Forces. On March 1, 2024, Marina was sentenced to one and a half years of compulsory labour. In July 2024, it became known that Marina was facing pressure at the correctional facility: she had not been allowed to go home even once in two months, had received two reprimands, and had been denied the chance to leave the facility on a daily basis, as she had been assigned to work as a cleaner at the facility. She was also required to disclose whom she called and to show the letters she wrote. In November, it was reported that Marina had been caught making belyashi (a type of meat pie) using yeast dough, which is prohibited in the correctional facility. On November 22, 2024, at the request of the facility, her remaining sentence was replaced with imprisonment in a penal colony.
